AKG PT 4000 Microphone
NEVER discard or replace the battery in this microphone. It is a special, rechargeable battery that should only be maintained by a technician in the Classroom Support group. Please call 644-2811 if you need assistance with this battery.

PLEASE turn off and insert the wireless microphone into this charging base after every class. This will help ensure that the microphone will be ready for each class throughout the day without the need to change batteries. A status light will show if the microphone is properly seated in the charging base. Please reseat the microphone in its base if you do not see a light.

  1. ON/OFF button
    • Turn on the wireless microphone by pressing the "on-off" button for approximately three seconds.

    • Important: When finished, please do not turn the wireless microphone off. Users are asked to please insert the wireless microphone into the Charging Base (5) after every class. Doing this will help ensure that the microphone will be ready for every class throughout the day without changing batteries.

  2. MUTE switch
    • Sliding the MUTE switch to the MUTE position will mute the wireless microphone. The Status LED (3) will change to red. To switch the wireless microphone back on, slide the MUTE switch to the ON position. The status LED (3) will change to green. The microphone will also be muted when it is inserted into the charging base.

  3. Status LED
    • This Status LED indicates the current operating status of the transmitter. A green light indicates that the wireless microphone is on and operational. If the Status LED in red then either the wireless microphone is on MUTE (2) or approximately 60 minutes remain before the battery will be dead.

  4. Display
    • The Display will show users the current battery charge level and if the wireless microphone has been muted (2).

  5. Charging Base
    • When finished using the wireless microphone, users are asked to please insert the wireless microphone into this Charging Base after every class. Doing this will help ensure that the microphone will be ready for every class throughout the day without changing batteries.

  6. Important: Important: If the microphone's battery goes dead, do not change the battery with a spare that is meant for other devices.

Use of other batteries could cause damage to the unit!

Please report any problems to Classroom Support via the Problem Report Web Form (on your computer's desktop after you log in). You can also call 644-2811 or e-mail to classroomsupport@acns.fsu.edu.
Using Lapel Wireless Microphones
Proper Microphone Placement Proper Microphone Placement
  1. How to attach
    • If a microphone clip is not already attached, fit the clip to the groove in the head assembly. Clip the head assembly to a lapel, button area of a shirt, or necktie, preferably about two buttons down as shown in picture above. The clip can rotate 360 for attachment from any direction.

  2. Tips for convenient use
    • To avoid feedback, use the microphone with your mouth put as close to the microphone top as possible.
    • Some microphone head assemblies are equipped with a foam cover (windshield). Please do not remove this cover because it helps muffle undesired sounds.
    • Adjust the volume control to an appropriate volume level that prevents feedback. The system is prone to feedback if the microphone comes too close to the speaker.
    • Take care not to drop the unit on to a hard floor.
    • Do not flip or blow into the microphone head.
    • Never open the unit or touch its internal components.
