Choosing an Alternate or Default Media Player

You may find that after inserting a DVD or opening a music or video file, the media player used is not sufficient. The following steps will show how you can change the media player or even set it as your default.

  • To choose a default player for video file, follow the steps on the two images below.

Choosing a different Media Player (Macintosh)

You may find that after inserting a DVD (only on older Mac Minis that still have optical drives) or opening a music or video file, the default media player (Apple DVD Player, Quicktime, or iTunes) doesn�t work as expected. The following steps will show how you can view or listen to any media file or play a DVD using an alternate program.

  • Open the Applications folder, scroll to the bottom, and open VLC Player:
